Apparently an area of the Bronx has become a dumping ground for old, dilapidated vehicles. Residents told the local CBS affiliate that the Wakefield area is simply lined with disabled cars. Jagdish Ram, a construction worker, says one clunker had not moved for one month, as they worked in that neighborhood. The local Sanitation Department is able to remove those cars that have severe body damage or is not equipped with license plates. Deputy Inspector Erik Hernandez, who oversees this precinct, says that they will remove the vehicles when are notified that they have been abandoned. He seems prepared to increase the responsiveness of the hauling process in light of the resident outcry.
