Both the Cleveland Department of Public Health’s Division of Air Quality and the Akron Regional Air Quality Management District are offering resident in northeastern Ohio with rebate incentive for purchasing electric mowers. Apparently, a $100 gift card is now available for those choosing battery-powered alternatives for their lawns.
According to a spokesperson for Cleveland DAQ, the absence of combustion helps limit “air pollution right in your neighborhood.” The program requires that buyers submit documentation showing that their gas mower was properly (safely) taken out of service and proof of purchase for an eco-friendly option.
